Do you have Thinking Overwhelm Syndrome?

Our minds can be constantly busy with many thoughts and distractions to keep it occupied, which can eventually lead to overwhelm.

I recently came to the conclusion that my life wasn’t busy – it was just my mind is busy!.

So before we get started, lets gently reflect on ..

What is your primary thought at this moment?

What is your secondary thought?

And your third thought?

We can all relate to focusing on the task that we are working on, whilst many other thoughts come into our minds about what to eat next, whilst also thinking of what we will wear tomorrow, whilst also adding a few more ‘to-do’s’ to our list and so on and in only a few minutes all this is happening and for some it can lead to overwhelm! Phew!

Perhaps you can relate to this?

It seems our minds are getting busier and busier yet we really wish for is a little ‘mind-holiday’.

Firstly, here are some ‘Thought’ facts:

  • Our brains produce as many as 50,000 thoughts per day (National Science Foundation). Some other sources say 60,000 to 70,000.
  • Ninety-five percent of these thoughts are repeated daily and reflect the mindset or beliefs we hold that lead to those 50,000 thoughts.
  • The vast majority of these thoughts are often spent dwelling in the past or the future, obsessing about mistakes we might have made, battling guilt, planning ahead or worrying. We are constantly drifting into fantasy, fiction and negativity.”
  • Your mindset in turn governs your actions, which lead to your results in life. In short, if you have a mindset that limits your potential, then you will likely accept limited results in your life.

Change your thoughts, Change your environment!

We unconsciously repeat the use of certain words eg. I can’t, I’m not able, I’m too this or that etc.

We have picked up most of this language from the environments we have spent our lives within. However, we can decide to change our language  TODAY!

So, every time you hear your head voice/inner critic using a language that is not in your best interest you can change it. Yay!

Example: Every time you hear I can’t.. Decide to look at what you ‘can’ and ‘have’ already achieved in life.

Add in the use of your senses whilst listening to your head voice so how do you feel when you say ‘I can’t’ to yourself v’s ‘I can’. (contracted v’s expanded)

You didn’t get here today from focusing on the ‘cant’s’.

Enjoy noticing how your vibration changes to feeling lighter when you say ‘I can’!

Another area to consider is our head voice shouting so loud that our heart voice gets very little attention.   Our minds are full of thoughts every day that distract us from really listening to our heart voice which, when we listen, will connect us with what and who we truly are, and of course connecting us with source which is always there to provide for us(if we’d only just ask).

How do I get on this ‘Mind-Holiday’?

Ok, so where do we go from here. My head voice is busy and my inner critic won’t shut up? I need a Mind-Holiday now! How do I get on this ‘Mind-Holiday’?

Most of the items below do not cost anything and your time will be very well spent and you will be feeling even more refreshed knowing you were loving to yourself and investing in yourself. Your mind will feel calmer, freer and more balanced.

The following are my top 5 recommendations:

  1. Journaling: My personal favourite. All you need is a few blank pages and a pen and begin to write out all the ‘stuff’ in your head and getting it down on paper and basically ‘out of your head’.

Grammatically correct, full stops, punctuation or neat writing is not required. Free flowing thoughts and moving along with your thought process even if you do change mid sentence onto anther topic.

I’ve personally written in a journal for years and it has been a wonderful release and I’ve gained amazing insights about my beliefs, behaviours and emotions along the way.

2. Breathing: Keep it simple and a few times a day take 3 long slow breaths filling up the body (ideally in nature if you can).

This can be done absolutely anywhere from sitting at your desk, to queuing at the bank, to sitting in a restaurant or commuting to work.

3. Meditation: this is widely discussed in many other sites so I will leave that to the experts, however switching off and switching inwards is one of the most loving things you can do for yorself daily. .

4. Exercise: Amazing for the body and can boost mood by triggering the release of feel-good hormones and chemicals, like endorphins, which can improve brain health.  A walk outdoors in the fresh air is an amazing way to start your day.

5. Intention List – Each day create a simple list, maybe 3 things that will make today great. Focus your day on these 3 items and you will be less distracted, and more focused on your outcome.

All of these can be done daily. Imagine how peaceful and calm you can BE by practicing these simple suggestions regularly.

I truly hope for a more peaceful world for everyone, and we all can contribute to making that happen by listening to our language and acting our our ‘hearts voice’ desires.

Wishing you a wonderful day,

Brenda.
