This question ‘Am I happy?’ probably saved my life and perhaps it can help yours too.

We tend to go about our daily lives sometimes in automatic pilot, ‘doing’ the tasks required of us either by others or our own personal to-do list. We rarely take the same to sit and ponder the question ‘Am I happy’?

A few years ago I was in a living in a world, which I created for myself over many years with a successful managerial position at work, good health, large house and a car that I owned outright. In essence I was meeting all the socially accepted materialistic criteria an over 30’s woman ‘should’ have in Ireland.

Then one day I pondered ‘Am I happy’? …

Am I happy

… and the response was ‘No’.

Oops – that was not the answer I expected.

Yet I knew deep down that I wasn’t happy, and worse still that I was very unhappy – I just hadn’t acknowledged it as I continued on autopilot.

My created life was no longer fulfilling me and I wasn’t having much fun either. I was grateful for what I did have and knew I was blessed, yet also knew it was time for something to change. I did not envision myself doing what I was doing until retirement age some 20-30 years more.

So, as the days went by I would ask myself at random times ‘Am I Happy?’ and before long I quickly identified the areas where I was not happy.

Which one are you?

Which one are you?

Then I would ponder how I could create a life where I was happier? For me my main unhappy area was in relation to being of service and for my work to be meaningful.

Take a moment now and consider what areas of your life could be happier – is it your relationship, finances, contribution?

When we are unhappy, we may tend to spiral into a darker part of our being which is heavy and can take up much of our resources. Also the ‘unhappy’ energy, depending on its severity, can attract more of the similar vibration and we may find ourselves with problems that we never wished for – I call these ‘lessons learnt’ as these are usually the universe/god’s way of encouraging us to change to follow our hearts desires.

However, on the other hand, if we are Happy in our lives then we release good endorphins, which also create a vibration around us of that happy energy that others are attracted to, and our body and our mind relaxes and feels freer and lighter. Perhaps you know someone like this who is genuinely happy in their life and notice how you feel around them.

Do you remember the last time you went for a walk by the sea, or by the beach? Remember the happy, freeing and lighter feeling without concern for any woes or concerns. Imagine having that feeling every day. What would that look like for you?

Tricia, a friend of mine has a significant health challenges and yet she inspires everyone with her infusion of happiness. Yes, she has her ‘up and down’ days, yet for the main part she radiates happiness and good times in her life and accepts the ‘not so good’ days.

So consider how you feel today – Are you truly happy? Listen to your hearts response. Notice any feelings in your body as you acknowledge what’s really going on for you. Is it time to change and if so, what can you do today to make your life happier? Is it something you can do on your own, or do you need some help?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this blog, and that this blog will inspire everyone to create a happier life for themselves and lift the vibration of the planet. We are each responsible for what we create for ourselves so why not make it the happiest times of our lives.

Wishing you a wonderful day.

Brenda.
